Option I: Automatic Installation

  1. In most cases, when an update is available for installation, a prompt to do so will appear when Sage 50 Accounting—U.S. Edition is closed
  2. Select Yes on the installation prompt
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update
  4. If the installation prompt does not appear, see Option II

Option II: Manually Install Service Releases and Tax Updates

  1. Close Sage
  2. Open Computer
  3. Browse to Updates folder located in your data path, refer to Article ID 10165: "How to find data path and program path" in the Related resources section
  4. Right-click latest Service Release or Tax Update, and then select Run as administrator

Note: If the update file is not present, refer to Article ID 11368: "How to manually download updates" in the Related resources section.

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update
  2. When the update completes, open Sage
  3. Select Help, and then select About Sage 50 Accounting to verify the update installed

Option III: Tax Forms Updates

  1. Follow the link in Additional Information for the forms update
  2. Select Download
  3. Save Peach.exe
  4. If Sage is on a different PC, copy Peach.exe to a CD or USB and take it to the Sage computer
  5. Double-click Peach.exe to start the installation
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update
  7. When the installation completes, your tax forms will be up-to-date and ready to use

Note:

  • Service releases and tax updates downloaded through Services, Check for Updates are saved to the Updates folder in your data path.
  • In a network setup, service release updates must be installed on the server first.
  • Tax updates must be installed at each computer using Sage, but the order does not matter.
  • The most recent service release must be installed before installing the most recent tax update.
  • If running Windows Vista, 7, or 8, you may need to disable User Account Control to successfully install the update. Follow Article ID 10198: "How to disable User Account Control (UAC)" in the Related Resources section.
